Joan's Lentil Burgers


450 grams green or brown lentils
845 mls hot water
110 grams butter
1 onion, finely chopped
1 small red pepper, finely chopped
2 carrots, grated
1 teaspoon mixed herbs
4 teaspoons tomato paste
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 egg
1 cup of milk
4 slices day old bread
Generous handful of sesame seeds
Salt and pepper to taste
